We think we are quite unique in our field as school catering is all we do! We offer all the services that Local Authority and Private Contract Caterers do, but to schools who want to gain control of their catering provision.

We work with your staff to put delicious, healthy, nutritional school meals on the table every day. We are there to support the Catering team with the day-to-day running of the service taking the issues away from the school’s management team so that they can focus on the school.

Why is it so important?

Everyone needs a healthy diet, but for school children it is especially important.

Children will grow and develop properly; their social skills will be enhanced by the communal eating, understanding of food groups and variety of food offered in general. It has also been proved that attention spans are enhanced when a healthy balanced diet is offered within the school day.

Holly Lodge Girls’ School in Liverpool reports, that since taking their catering in house, the school has seen a marked improvement in students' behaviour, concentration and consequently, GCSE results. Incidences of bullying at lunchtimes have decreased and the girls place more value on the college's two food courts, which they themselves helped to decorate.

"We decided to bring our catering operation in house in September 2010 and initially we were very concerned about certain areas, particularly the financial control and accounting aspects. However, the catering service has run exceptionally smoothly since the start and much of this due to the support and advice of CMC. We were allocated a dedicated, experienced manager who spent a lot of time with the school to establish the operation and continues to maintain regular contact with the catering manager and the finance team.

CMC's purchase ordering, accounting and stock control systems are very robust and generate monthly catering accounts enabling us to closely monitor performance against budget. We have also benefited from CMC's input into health and safety, staff training, pricing structures, menu design, nutritional analysis and equipment purchases.

With CMC's support we have managed to turn around a catering operation which historically made large losses and are now on target to generate a surplus in the current year."
